DAY FISHING PERMIT AND INDEMNITY FORM

Please read and complete this form carefully before fishing on the estate. By signing below, you agree to abide by all DEPS rules and regulations, acknowledging full responsibility for your actions while on the property.

  1. ACCEPTANCE OF RULES AND REGULATIONS

    By signing this form, you agree to the following terms and conditions in addition to the DEPS’ rules and regulations provided to you:

    • Permit requirement: I acknowledge that I must carry this permit while fishing on DEPS property and display my designated identification tag.
    • Restricted fishing areas: I understand that fishing is restricted to the designated dams for day permit holders and that members-only areas (Ingifell Dam, Poplar Dam, Midway Dam, and the river) are off-limits.
    • Catch and keep system: I accept that fishing is conducted under a "catch and keep" system, and I will take all catches to the abattoir for weighing, processing, and payment as required.
    • Safety and liability: I acknowledge that all fishing is conducted at my own risk, and I accept full responsibility for any injuries, losses, or damages incurred while on the estate.
    • Environmental responsibility: I agree to respect other anglers, avoid overcrowding, and dispose of litter in the bins provided.
    • Adherence to rules: I have read and understood the DEPS rules and regulations and agree to adhere to them fully. I understand that failure to comply with these rules may result in fines, suspension of fishing privileges, or removal from the property.

  3. INDEMNITY CLAUSE

    I, the undersigned, hereby indemnify and hold harmless Dunkeld East Piscatorial Society (DEPS), its employees, agents, and management from any claim, damage, or liability that may arise from my activities on the estate. I acknowledge that I am fully responsible for my safety and actions while fishing on DEPS property.

    RULES & REGULATIONS FOR DAY PERMIT HOLDERS

    For the safety, enjoyment, and preservation of our fishing environment, all daily permit holders must read and adhere to the following rules:

  4. PERMIT REQUIREMENTS
    • Every angler must possess a valid DEPS fishing permit while fishing on the estate.
    • Signing an indemnity form upon entry to the property is a prerequisite to obtain a permit.
    • Purchase of a day permit signifies acceptance of all DEPS fishing rules and regulations.
  5. DESIGNATED FISHING AREAS

    Fishing is only allowed in the following dams (Catch and Keep Dams) for day permit holders:

    • Little Pig Dam;
    • Oxbow Dam;
    • Willow Dam;
    • Dabchick Dam;
    • Loch Hagen; and
    • Loch Earn.

    The Main Dam, Ingifell Dam, Poplar Dam, Midway Dam, and the river are reserved exclusively for members.

  6. EQUIPMENT AND GEAR USE
    • Anglers may use fixed spool spinning reels, bait/lures, rods, and landing nets within the designated (Catch and Keep Dams).
    • The bailiff has the authority to inspect all fishing equipment to ensure compliance with DEPS regulations and will report any misconduct to management.
    • All fishing equipment, particularly nets and waders, must be thoroughly cleaned before use on the property to prevent the spread of invasive species or diseases harmful to local fish populations.
  7. FISH HANDLING AND PROCESSING
    • Minimise stress on fish by keeping them in the water when landing and handling them gently. Allow trophy fish to recover in the net for 5-10 minutes before handling.
    • All fish must be culled upon capture and taken to the abattoir for processing, weighing, packaging, and payment. Fish gutting is prohibited at dams or rivers and must be completed at the abattoir.
  8. CONDUCT AND ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY
    • Respect the space of other anglers, avoid overcrowding, and ensure a peaceful environment for all visitors.
    • Deposit all litter in the bins provided at designated areas. Leaving refuse at dams or the river is strictly prohibited.
    • Do not interfere with or disturb the flora and fauna. The estate is home to various wildlife species, and interactions with them should be avoided.
    • This is a working farm and eco-park with wild animals present; caution should be exercised at all times.
  9. RULES AND PROHIBITIONS
    1. 9.1 Prohibited items and activities
      • No open fires or braais are allowed on the estate.
      • Firearms are strictly prohibited without specific permission from estate management.
      • Loud radios or similar appliances are not permitted to maintain a tranquil environment.
      • Swimming in the dams is strictly forbidden.
    2. 9.2 Rule compliance and penalties
      • Any fish found in possession upon departure without proper documentation and payment at the abattoir will be considered poached, constituting a criminal offence.
      • Violations of DEPS rules may result in fines, removal from the estate, or suspension of fishing privileges.
  10. SAFETY AND RESPONSIBILITY
    1. 10.1 Personal Safety and Risk
      • Fishing is done entirely at your own risk. DEPS will not be liable for accidents or injuries.
      • Be cautious and avoid hazards such as steep embankments, especially when water levels are low.
      • Daily permit holders should familiarise themselves with emergency contact points. In case of injury, animal encounter, or equipment failure, contact the bailiff or management immediately.
      • Daily permit holders with any contagious illness that may pose a risk to others are requested to refrain from fishing until they have fully recovered.
    2. 10.2 Record-Keeping and Identification
      • Anglers are required to sign in and out each day and must record their catches accurately.
      • Identification tags must be displayed as follows:
        • Green – public guests
        • Yellow – bailiffs or scouts
        • Blue – members
  11. OTHER RULES
    • Driving or parking up to dams is strictly prohibited. Use designated parking areas to access fishing spots.
    • Children under the age of 10 must be supervised by an adult while fishing.
    • Fishing is permitted from sunrise to sunset only.
    • All bass caught may be kept or given to the bailiff but should not be returned to the dams.
    • Fishing quotas may be imposed on Catch and Keep Dams and Catch and Release Dams as needed for conservation.
  12. PAYMENT
    • A R20 conservancy fee may be added to support estate wildlife and conservation efforts, including food provisions for wildlife.
    • All fish kept must be weighed and processed at the abattoir, with payment required at the advertised rate per kilogram.
    • R220 for fisherman
    • R120 for fisherman under 16
    • R120 for non-anglers
    • R420 for tubers(Ingifell dam only) for the day
    • R220 for tubers(Ingifell dam only) per session(morning or afternoon)
